The NEBULA

A stylized galaxy background built entirely with procedural Blender nodes and refined with cinematic compositing.

Cover render for The NEBULA procedural study.
Project overview

A stylized galaxy and space background generated entirely with procedural nodes in Blender.

01

Procedural Nebula

The World shader layers nebula clouds and star fields using noise- and Voronoi-based patterns, shaped through Map Range and ColorRamp controls and combined with Lighten blending for art-directable density and contrast.

The final look is refined in the Compositor with cinematic post effects, including streak and bloom glare, chromatic aberration through lens dispersion, tonal tuning, and RGB curve shaping. It was rendered in Cycles with GPU acceleration and Filmic high-contrast color management.

Key Techniques

  • Procedural World shader: Noise and Voronoi with Map Range and ColorRamp masking
  • Layered blending: Lighten with intensity boosting through Add
  • Coordinate control: Texture Coordinate and Mapping
  • Post-processing: glare, streaks, bloom, chromatic aberration, tone tuning, and RGB curves
